Fourth session: The group arrives in Tombo, main point of debarkation in the Shattered Isles.  It is a small city that suffers from both petty and major case crimes that range from pickpocketing and robbery to kidnapping and assassination.  While gathering equipment and finding a guide, the group witnesses and intervenes in a daylight kidnapping attempt which happily results in the victim being returned to her parents unharmed.  Tompol is no doubt working diligently to find out who stopped the kidnappers.

The group fails to find the guide that was recommended to them.  He apparently fled his house in Tombo for unknown reasons.  After locating a replacement, the group travels to the island they believe the temple is on.  Not only is there a temple but a native dressed up to play the part of a ‘high priest’ is waiting for tourists to arrive.  Unsure whether this is the place, FX uses his sword to locate the dragon and the temple again.  Both seem to be some ways off.  Trying a new infinity sign with the Corona pen, he opens a portal that apparently leads directly to the temple.

Upon passing through the portal, Li experiences something different than the others.  She is passing through a dark void and is pursued by a bunch of shadowy figures.  Luckily she manages to pass through the portal before they catch up.  On the other side, she is disoriented.  Her directional sense is gone!

Before actually entering the temple, Duncan is saved from a foot crushing by the crumpling of the armor around his right foot.  Rooster later tells him that the armor damage is permanent.

Exploring the temple, the group finds a stairway leading to a 100×100 room with two features, a set of four dragon statuettes in the corners and a large floor mural of an army (seems similar to the one from the crypt painting).  When the statues start to glow, the party deduces that the dragon is getting near.

FX and the rest of the group emerge from the temple to challenge the dragon who patiently waits for them from a beach outside the half submerged structure.  After FX issues a challenge, the dragon scoffs at the group and summons a giant portal that sucks the group into a dark void that leads to a place of the dragon’s choosing.

One of the bodyguards fails to escape the shadowy hunters in the void.  See ya Raoul!

The group appears in a small cave on a rainswept floating island that is  covered with grass, heavy beaked gulls, bird nests and lots of bird poop.  The  island floats over a large featureless body of water (which nonetheless seems vaguely familiar to Hallé) and is overshadowed by another island.  As the rain stops and the sun shines down, the group notices several huge chains connecting the two.

The group had its first session, spent mostly generating and developing characters.  Skills were selected and short vignettes run to illustrate how some of them were learned.

X learned he should cut out the labels from his clothes before feeding them to the hungry hounds of hell, especially when fleeing a crime scene he helped create.  In further streaking news, X practiced naked daylight foot racing in a dream village but no one noticed.  Or maybe the ladies were unimpressed? Ouch!

Duncan acquired his first yappy dog, hand chosen for him by his solicitous mother Kay.  He spent a while fuming about it, but perhaps he should be more worried about the black Imperial car down the street, especially since whoever is inside seems to be keeping an eye on his house.

Li discovered that she has an absolute sense of direction which allows her to go back to places she’s been without a map or GPS–an ability made somewhat more useful since CoG2 doesn’t have GPS satellites to coordinate with.  Basically she’s a human homing pigeon!

Hallé had a strange dream where she found herself able to control the environment.  She willed herself to be flying over an ocean, and when she opened her eyes she was!  Looking down at her reflection, she discovered she was riding, inside or had become a giant flaming light zooming through the heavens.  And when she woke up, her bedding was unnaturally hot to the touch like a boiling kettle had been resting against them!

Several mysteries were poked at, but the most important revelation (in the party’s eyes) was that they were 4 of 17 survivors of a genetic enrichment project.  It is believed that the purpose of the project was to enhance the possibility of developing psionic powers.

Everyone got an invitation to see a demonstration and possibly apply to learn Krav Maga from Hallé’s mother’s friend.
